My mom loves to cook and feed people. Friends and family friends would often ask about her followed by the statement, “I miss her cooking”.

I miss her cooking, too.

Mom, in the kitchen, working hard to make us delicious food.

My parents are visiting us in a few weeks and she is already talking about cooking for us. Eating well and healthy is one of the things she values the most in life. I look forward to having mom’s food (媽媽的菜) and also cooking for her.

Mom’s Braised Food (hard to translate this one)

Mom’s Sishen Soup

Mom’s pickled vegetable rice ball

I asked my husband what he missed the most about his mom’s cooking. And of course, he said pies. 🙂

Mom’s Berry Pie

What is your favourite 媽媽的菜 (mom’s food)?

  1. Maybe you could translate 媽媽的滷味 as Mom’s Loo’ed flavour dishes….

A cookbook author by the name of Jeff Smith used to refer to the 滷 braising liquid as a ‘Loo’ing sauce’ and he thought it immensely funny to make a pun with ‘lewd food’ 🙂
